This Conrero 1150 Sport is an alloy-bodied special that has been constructed by Autotecnica Conrero in 1960 with power from a 1,147cc Alfa Romeo inline-four. After serving as an engineer in the Italian Royal Air Force during World War II, Virgilio Conrero established himself as a leading engine builder and tuner after founding Autotecnica Conrero in the early 1950s. While Conrero was known primarily for his preparation of Alfa Romeo powerplants for various drivers and teams, his portfolio also extended to the construction of a limited number of full cars between the 1950s and early 1960s. This example incorporates a steel tube frame carrying alloy spyder-style coachwork that is finished in red. Various imperfections are noted in the finish, and a variation in shade is detectable between panels. Features include a headrest fairing with an integrated roll hoop, covered headlights, a hood scoop, a full-framed windshield, fixed side windows, body-color side mirrors, and leather straps to secure the hood and removable rear panel. The car reportedly contested the Conchiglia Shell at Autodromo Vallelunga in Rome, Italy, in May 1960 before being sold to its next owner, who campaigned it in a hill climb at Switzerland’s Ollon-Villars in 1963. It is not confirmed but it is to be assumed that this car participated to the Le Mans edition of 1960 but unfortunately did not finish the race. It had to retire the race in its 11th hour of the race due to a transmission problem.

The car is finished in red and features dual Weber carburetors, twin-plug ignition, a five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel independent suspension with coil over shock absorbers, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes with the rear units mounted inboard, fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in blue, and a roll bar.

This Conrero comes with an FIA identity card from 1992, an FIA historic passport, photos of the car at vintage racing events, and Belgian registration.
